In May, Mike and I went to New York for a CPA training conference. Steph & Matt and Jenny & Jason decided to tag along. It was a lot of fun.
After our long red-eye flight, we had fun trying to figure out the subway system. It took a few minutes but we got the hang of it.
We discovered that the subway is an interesting place. And, yes-- the pole dancing sign is applicable. We noticed it after we had the pleasure of being entertained by a "professional."
The subway is a filthy place.
Matt & Steph and Jenny & Jason stayed at a hotel near Time Square. We stayed at the Archer near Bryant Park-- just a few blocks from the Empire State building. It was REALLY nice.
Our room was tiny but really nice with a super comfy bed. And it had a great view.
And Mike really enjoyed the shower.
After we got checked in, we got cleaned up and took a nap. The rest of the gang went sight-seeing while they waited to check into their hotel.
They decided to hit the local church, too.
Steph & Jenny really wanted to see a taping of Jimmy Fallon while we were in town, but it just didn't fit in the schedule.
They took a bike tour through Central Park.
Mike and I walked through Central Park on our way to meet them at their hotel. I wasn't very impressed. It was packed with people and everything looked super dry and dirty. These were the only parts of the park that we walked through that were worthy of a picture.
We were hungry so we stopped to get a hot dog. I don't know what the guy gave us but it was really nasty and way too expensive.
We stopped to check out the Met for a few minutes, too. Crowded but pretty.
For dinner, we ate at the Star Dust Diner. It was so fun.
The food was yummy and the entertainment was awesome.
And every time we finished a meal, the boys needed a snack.
We did lots of walking and sight-seeing.
Time Square was crazy! So many people. So many weird people. So much to see. Totally overwhelming.
Bryant Park was our favorite.
And at the end of the day, we enjoyed the view of the Empire State from our bed.
