This is the Peterson family. Straight from the J Crew catalog. Just kidding. But, really, aren't they gorgeous?! Sorry... I really stink at keeping the pics to a minimum. There's even more on my site.

Maternity Pics
I took Michelle to "cantelope" Island to take her family/maternity pics. She was just too beautiful and there were just too many pictures... so I decided to split it into 2 posts. There are more on my website but these are my faves.
I've seriously never understood why someone would want maternity pics. Some of us (meaning me) look like zitty beached whales. But after shooting Michelle... I get it. If I looked like her when I was pregnant, I'd pose like a cover model, too.

April Fools!
Okay, so I've been a little dramatic this week and I kind of freaked out about the whole photography thing. I really need to hire a shrink! I decided that I've been overwhelmed with my schedule-- trying to fit everything and everyone in, and still be able to take care of all of my family's needs. I've had a few too many shoots and spend a lot of time editing, which isn't working out very well for me. I really have trouble with the whole "everything in moderation" concept.
I realize that I am a perpetual people pleaser and that I've never learned very well how to say no and that is my big fat problem. Thus, I've resolved to make a change and have decided to scale back so I can still do what I love. I will have a few set days/times each month available for photos and once they're booked, they're booked. I hope that will work for everyone. I am feeling much better about that plan.
For anyone who's wondering... June is full of previous bookings. For July, Saturday the 9th (a.m.) is the only date left for that month. I'll update the schedule for August in the next few weeks. As for babies and weddings, I will see what I can fit in.
Sorry I'm crazy :)

Warner Family
I took the Warner fam to Red Butte Gardens two weeks ago for some pics. It was the perfect day. The kiddos were so good and lots of fun, and Mom and Dad were a lot of fun, too.

A Sad Day...
This is kind of a downer of a post, but I've decided that I will not be taking pictures anymore. Of course I'll still be taking pictures-- just not for hire. I feel really sad about it but I think it will be better for my family if I focus my time and energy on them. I will finish the pictures I am currently working on and fulfill my committments to those of you who I've spoken with about scheduling (Eliza, July, Michelle), but as for taking new clients goes, I need to be done. I may take a one here or there (ie. mostly babies since they can be done while my kids are at school and Mike is at work), but a regular schedule isn't going to work right now for my family. Maybe some day I'll be able to do this again. I hope so. It's helped me keep my mind off of grieving for my baby and it's been the most fulfilling year of my life. I will miss it so much.
There's a time and a season for everything, and I guess it's just not my time. So, until that season comes again, enjoy my family pics... 'cause they're going to be awesome.

Hodgson Family
These are the Hodgson's. I finished their pictures about a month ago and totally spaced posting them. So, here they are. This was the shoot where I got kicked out of the house on Redwood by the police. It was a major bummer. They were so cool about it, though, and we finished up at my other go-to place in Foxboro.
I just have to say that this one was my favorite. It wasn't posed at all which makes it even better. She was trying to comfort her baby after an hour of me making goofy faces at him and silly noises to try to keep his attention. Hopefully I haven't scarred him for life :) I think it totally captures the essence of motherhood and that's why I love it. Plus, she's so beautiful.

Holy Buffalo!
I just found my new favorite place (in Utah). Friday night we drove out to Antelope Island to check it out. It's something I've always wanted to do but never done before, and when a client asked about it as a picture location, I just had to go.
I get that we live next to the "Great Salt Lake" but, really, who actually ever goes out there? I am in heaven. Since my favorite place on earth is the ocean, you can imagine the sheer joy I felt when we landed on this awesome beach. If it's cloudy enough, you can't really see the mountains on the other side of the lake and then it kind of feels like the real thing. The downside-- no sea shells and no waves. The upside-- no kelp. Yeah!
My kids were excited too. It's too bad it was a little cold for their liking. But to tell you the truth, that is when the ocean/beach is my favorite. I was giddy.
It's been about two years since we've all seen the ocean and played on the sand at the beach. So as soon as we stopped the car, they were gone.
Heaven.
The Great Salt Lake is full of the best skipping rocks. They had a blast skipping rocks together across the glassy water.
And, I know, it's pathetic, but this is me after I skipped a rock for the first time. Lifetime achievement. It's exciting.
Who knew that Utah was so amazing-- desert, forests, and now an ocean! I think I'll have to go back this week. And next week. And the next. Well, you get the picture.
Heaven. This is totally the place. Thanks Brigham.
