Pioneer Day Hike to Lake Solitude

On Pioneer Day 2013, we and the Harris' decided to go on a hike.  We went up to Silver Lake in Big Cottonwood Canyon and hiked up to Lake Solitude.  While the weather was really warm in the valley, it was perfect in the high 60's up in the canyon.
The kids always have a great time with their cousins.
Rhett, Matt, Capri, Charlotte & Steph

Mike, Bryant, Ang, Hallie & Cameron

We all had a great time checking out the scenery and the wildlife, and catching butterflies.

Finally, we arrived at the lake.
And we saw some deer feeding on the other side.
We also found a "cave."  It was actually an old mine entrance that they decided not to use.
The dads and the kids had fun climbing in and checking it out.
Then it was time for the hike back down the mountain.
We worked up an appetite, so at the end of the trail we stopped for lunch.  It was a great day!
